created by our Meigs media Team about Car Line Drop-Off. Meigs Student Drop-Off and Pick up Procedures
According to school drop-off procedures, students must be dropped off in the back of the building (this includes Fun Company). If parents do not want to drop students off in the back, they may choose to park at the end of 7th street (in the parking spaces adjacent to Douglas Park, but not on 7th street). They may also park on Ramsey Street (but not in the front driveway of the school which is the MTA bus lane). If parents choose to park next to Douglas Park or on Ramsey Street, they must walk their children up to the school’s sidewalk starting at 7:30 am. The following are other procedures to be mindful of: • If you arrive early to drop off a student (prior to 7:25 am), please park in the left lane and leave a space open so staff members can access the back parking lot. The right lane should only be used by parents who are dropping off students enrolled in Fun Company. • If the left lane is full, feel free to park in the back park ing lot spaces by the soccer fields and then rejoin the right lane of traffic starting at 7:25 am. • If you arrive early to drop off a student, they must stay in the car with you until 7:25 am. At this time, Mr. Beasley will begin the process of unloading. • Please refrain from entering the school parking lot from 7th Street. This is an exit only, and is clearly marked as an exit. Entering this way could cause a serious accident and may result in a traffic ticket. • Please do not park on 7th Street along the side of the building in the morning or afternoon. There are signs that clearly state it is illegal to park there during these times. This may result in a traffic ticket. In addition, it creates an unsafe situation for parents who are exiting the parking lot. Ultimately, our procedures are in place to keep both parents and students safe. We appreciate your cooperation in this process! (Late Arrival or Early Dismissal) If your student will be arriving to school late for any reason, they will need to sign in through the Main Office. If a student has been to an appointment, please ask the doctor to provide you with an excuse note for school. Students being dismissed early for appointments will be called to the office when the parent arrives to pick them up. We do not call students from their classroom to wait in the office for a parent to get here. We want to provide the student with the maximum instructional time possible. A student being dismissed early can only be released to those individuals who are designated in the computer database. If your child is sick/absent please notify the office by emailing Katherine Forrest ([email protected] ). |
WeGO
WeGo bus services are an excellent transportation choice that fosters independence and responsibility. Students attending Options middle schools ride for free with their student IDs. Special buses to and from WeGo Central drop off students at the school before 7:45 am, and pick them up in front of the school at dismissal.
Students move in packs. Example: The No.3 Bus drops 10 kids at Bellevue Library, where parents wait for the bus arrival around 4:30pm. Magnet school students are using buses in your neighborhood and all over town. When you think your child is ready, ride with them for the first time. Refer to the WeGo network map to determine your nearest services. Find a bus buddy on the Meigs PTO Carpool Connect Facebook group. Map your times using The Transit App or Google Maps Transit Directions. Your family will be at ease with the process in no time. LOOK for our TRY THE RIDE EVENT organized in the Fall to meet bus buddies. The date will be announced on a First Day Folder flyer. WeGo POLICY ON STUDENT IDs Your registered ID serves as fare and parent permission. Registration is ONLY via the School Secretary, Mrs. Forrest ([email protected]). Look out for forms at the beginning of the school year or contact Mrs. Forrest. You have limited opportunities to replace the ID if your child loses it. $15 fines will be assessed to replace it. Important Student ID Card tip IDs are issued within the first month of school, and are valid through September of the following school year. This is important to know because there is always a delay in receiving ID cards at the beginning of the school year. Hold on to last year’s card, so your returning child doesn’t have a “gap” with no ID fare card. Walker Pass Students who (might) use the normal No.56 route along Main St/Gallatin Ave (such as for after school events) will need a walker pass to permit self-dismissal. Look out for forms at the beginning of the school year or contact Mrs. Forrest. Fares You will have to pay fares until your child is issued their ID. Cash fares are $1 per single ride for children, $2 for adults, exact fare only. It is always good to have two $1 bills as emergency bus money in the bottom of a backpack. Also consider downloading the Quickticket app onto their phone and setting up a virtual account with money in it. Click for a [PDF] |
