MTA (2017-18 StrIDe Middle School Student Permission Form)
StrIDe is a joint program of the Metro Transit Authority, Metro Schools, the Mayor’s office and Metro Council to offer public transportation to youth in Metro Schools at no cost to the student. All high school (grade 9-12) students automatically receive a StrIDe card (their student ID card) which allows them to travel on all MTA routes seven days a week. MNPS middle school students (grades 5-8) may participate in the StrIDe program if their school does not have school bus service. Parents must return this permission form to the school prior to the middle school student riding MTA.
Once this form is returned, a special student ID with MTA coding will be printed and provided to the student.
IDs will be delivered to the school, and then issued to students. The replacement cost for damaged or lost IDs will be $15.00 payable to the school. Students will be limited to three (initial pass plus 2) lost passes per semester. While riding public transportation, students should follow the MTA Code of Conduct or risk losing their StrIDe pass.
Parents should understand that this program involves public transportation and that school staff will not be on these buses. We have thousands of students who safely ride MTA buses every day. This program is one of the great benefits available to MNPS students. All parents of middle school students attending an out of zone school are encouraged to consider allowing their students to participate. Note: Charter middle school students are not eligible for the StrIDe program and parents should contact their school to learn more about transportation options.
